I am so very excited for the 2012 wedding season. It starts for me in just one month, and I can’t wait! And I am so thrilled that I was featured on Apple Brides today, showing off an engagement session from last July in Spokane. And I am super excited for this July when I get to capture their wedding. Go HERE and check it out!
Make sure you read it all too. :) And since all posts are better with a picture, here are a few favorites from this session.

P.S. Leave some comments for Apple Brides!

I love the snow. And I love capturing people in the snow. It is the best!
Meet Kelli+Sam.
They started dating many years ago, when they were just 16. And after many years they are getting hitched! I am so excited for them. And I was so excited to shoot their engagements in the snowy mountains. We lucked out with gorgeous weather, and lots and lots of gorgeous snow. We had lots of fun. The snow was so deep we would randomly sink into huge holes. They had a great snowball fight, tried to build a snowman. And had lots of love and laughter!

Thank you for letting me capture your love! I cannot wait for your wedding in just over a month!

The final shoot of 2011. I am so excited to share this one.
It’s time for a little stroll down memory lane. I’ve talked about being from Pomeroy, Washington. And when I moved there I became friends with Nick. I have lots of fun memories from High School that include Nick and I am so excited to have the opportunity to capture his love with Megan. I don’t think Nick could have picked a girl more perfect for him. She is stunningly beautiful inside and out. And I can tell that Nick is completely head over heals in love with her. That’s the way it should be. And Megan’s love for him just radiates from her.
Meet Nick+Megan.
We started early in the morning on New Year’s Eve. We had beautiful light and chilly skies. But they were troopers.

Just the perfect amount of wind came along.. check out Megan’s model hair. She’s gorgeous.

I love moments like this.

Nick and Megan you two have the most beautiful eyes.

Congratulations on your engagement! I am so excited for the future you two have together. And I cannot wait to capture your wedding in June!

It’s that time to review my goals for 2011 and set some new ones.
Let’s review 2011, the goals and in bold how I did.
On the business end. I want to shoot 12 weddings this year. I love weddings. After shooting back to back ones this weekend this feels like a great goal for me. It allows me to maintain the balance of Mom and photographer. I shot 10.
I also want to improve, I am constantly striving to be a better photographer and I am anxious for WPPI in Las Vegas next month to go and learn more! I feel like I improved, but I still want to grow more!
On the personal side. I want to workout regularly. I haven’t in over eleven years. It’s time to do that. I started this in August, and I am still going strong!! And I lost 20lbs last year!!
I want to take time to pray and have it be more meaningful, and also to read my scriptures and have it be more meaningful. I feel I have slacked in these areas this past year. I am still working on this.
2012 goals:
Let’s start with the business side again. I want to shoot 15 weddings this year. If you know anyone engaged send them my way. :) And if they tell me they were referred by you, you will get a little something from me! And I really want one to be a destination wedding!
I want to work on the business side and simplify where I can.
I want to balance my family life and business life better. In fact I feel like this was my biggest failure in 2011.
I want to continue to workout.. I have a goal to run a half marathon.. as long as my knee will take it. If it won’t I will find something else great to do that will challenge me.
I want to say yes more to my children. I find myself saying no too often to things that don’t matter that much. I want to say yes to things that would mean the world to them and help me to be the Mom I want to be.
And here is a fun shot from a recent engagement session to make this post a little more interesting!

Tuesday was chilly. Heck the last couple of weeks have been cold. My morning run outside leaves me chilly most of the day. You might find me wrapped up in a snuggie at my house if you stop by unexpectedly. But Tuesday had a little bit of sunshine which was nice after the dismal grey sky we have been enduring for forever. I think the sun came out just for John and Katelynn. I was super excited to meet them and shoot their engagement session. And in 2012 I will be shooting their wedding. :)
Meet John and Katelynn.
I am seriously so excited to shoot their wedding. I loved hanging out with them on Tuesday and getting to know them. One thing about John and Katelynn that really stood out to me through out their session was how extremely kind they were to one another. I love seeing couples who you can tell are completely in love, but are also looking to put the other one first. That’s what marriage is all about.
To start our session we went to Bookwalter Winery. It is a beautiful venue and they were kind enough to let us shoot around their barrel room. I loved it!

Then we headed out to WSU Tri-Cities for some fun pictures. They both attended WSU Pullman but since Pullman was a little far we figured the Richland campus would be great! It sheltered us from the cold and added a fun twist.

I love shooting on the WSU campus, there are lots of great locations.

This has to be one of my favorite walking shots ever. It was cold and John was totally keeping Katelynn warm. It makes me happy, you can just feel the love.

Thank you for letting me capture your love. I cannot wait to shoot your wedding this coming year!
Merry Christmas!

It’s always fun to shoot engagement sessions. And this one was particularly fun. I was super excited to shoot Ben+Andrea. Ben is from Pomeroy.. (my hometown) and I was super excited to hang out with him and his super awesome fiancé Andrea.
Andrea had her hair and makeup done by Eden Salon and Day Spa, they did a great job, and Andrea looked stunning! The weather ended up being questionable. It was windy and cloudy but we made the best of it. And Ben and Andrea were troopers through it all.
We started in the beautiful fall leaves.
And then we found a beautiful meadow where we captured some great moments!
Ben and Andrea have such a great love. I loved watching them giggle and have fun together.
Ben and Andrea you two are such a great match!

Thank you so much for spending an afternoon with me. I am so excited to shoot your wedding in May!!

Last Saturday I met up with Jennifer and Jake to capture their love in a fabulous engagement session. It was so fun to watch them with their adorable son and get to know them. They have such a great relationship and you can just feel the love between them.
We started with some family pictures.
And then just some of their adorable little man. He ran away from me the whole time. I even fell down into a hole while shooting him. (On a side note I always tell me clients they are responsible for making sure I don’t die. I am anything but graceful and I am sure I will walk in front of a car because I am looking at my clients and not my surroundings.) It was totally funny and it was a joke the rest of the shoot. Thankfully I didn’t hurt my camera.. or myself. But look at how cute their little boy is. I adore him.
Then we took off for some of just Jennifer and Jake.
I love how much fun they have together. And you can just tell how much they adore each other.
Jake proposed to Jennifer at a Central Washington Baseball game that he was playing in. I think that is totally romantic!
This image makes me happy. I love the look and I love that Jake has red shoe laces.

This series makes me super happy. I loved the light coming through and these two just oozed love.
You two are gorgeous! Congratulations on your engagement!
Thank you for hanging out with me and letting my capture your love! I cannot wait for your wedding in June!

I am sitting here and just realized today is September 14. Seriously the month is half over already? Where did the first half go?
On September first I drove up to Yakima to meet up with Allan and Molly, and Molly’s sweet daughter. Allan and Molly are engaged! I love, love, love, love engagement pictures. It’s such a fun way to get to know your couples, and it helps them to know what being in front of the camera is like with crazy me operating it. I always like to have a chance for the to get used to my style before their wedding day. And I love getting to know them and their love story even more.
Allan and Molly started dating after YEARS of their friend Rachel hounding them to meet. Neither one was really ready for a while but finally they met, long distance. Molly was in Boise, Allan was in Yakima, and lucky for them LaGrande, Oregon was a good half way point. Rachel, you totally knew what you were doing setting these two up. :) I don’t think they could find a better match for each other. And just hanging out with them you can feel their love for one another. After some long distance dating Molly moved closer.. and then really close. Finally these two are tying the knot in just over a month or so. I can’t wait to capture their wedding!
Meet Allan and Molly, plus Molly’s adorable daughter.
I love the old trains in Yakima. It was fun to shoot somewhere different!
They are such an adorable family.
I love this fun series. Katie makes me giggle.
Allan and Molly, this set captures you. So sweet and fun, and full of love!
Their eyes are gorgeous!

Congratulations on your engagement! I am so honored to be able to capture your special day!

This summer has been so busy. I have loved every minute of it. And I was super excited to capture the love between these two.
Joey is in the U.S. Marine Corps, and so their engagement session happened just a few days before their wedding. It was super fun to get to know Joey. I had met Britanni, and these two are made for each other. I loved watching them interact and seeing the fun they have together.

Britanni’s eyes look gorgeous in this. And she is so happy in Joey’s arms.

Thank you Joey and Britanni for letting me capture your love. And be on the watch for their wedding blog soon!

Our summer has been cold. And I know I have talked about the weather here way too much. But seriously, it has been crazy and the weather effects my job. So you get to hear about the weather. Now I will get to my point about the weather.
A couple of weeks ago I drove up to Spokane to meet up with Tyler and Lauren. I was super excited to meet them, and hang out with them as we wandered around downtown Spokane. They were only visiting Spokane for a short time from Iowa and so we had a day selected. I had watched the weather and it seemed like all was well. I was wrong. It was soooo cold. My van said 58 degrees when I left their shoot. It’s JULY!! It rained and was cold. But Tyler and Lauren didn’t mind. They came prepared with an umbrella and we looked for great spots and made the most of it.
I love downtown Spokane. It has such a fun feel, and I was super excited to shoot their, something different than the Tri-Cities.

I love how cute they look under an umbrella. The rain did not phase them.
We found all sorts of great nooks to pop in for pictures. And it was so fun just visiting with them. They have the best story of how they met.. on a cruise ship…maybe the Love Boat! :)
We stopped in front of a great bookstore for a few pictures. The light was gorgeous.
And then we hit a fabulous coffee shop. They played chess.
Drank coffee, and looked gorgeous.

We ventured back out into the rain and down to River Front Park.
I love this shot. I think it captures how adorable these two are together.
And lastly we hit the Carousel. We were the only people there. I don’t recommend riding it backwards, it goes way faster than I expected, but I love the fun images from it!
Tyler and Lauren, you two are adorable. I cannot wait for your wedding next July! Thank you for letting me in on your life and your love.
