I have a goal.  To blog more, stay true to me, and keep it real.  I am going to start a new blog instalment that will be weekly.. Talkative Tuesday.  Rad right?  And how fitting.. I can talk for every to anyone.  Just ask anyone who has ever met me.  Actually funny story.. I was talking to a friend and she mentioned how another mutual friend is quiet and they never talk that long on the phone.  And I said really?  We talk forever on the phone sometimes.. then I thought again.. I talk forever at her.  Maybe she puts the phone down and wonders how long I will talk before I clue in she’s not there?  Could happen?  Does this happen friend that I am notnamingmistynaming?  But I do listen to people too.. but I really do like to talk a lot.  I might as well talk a lot here.

The past couple of weeks I have been thinking a lot about life.  I have been at the hospital to see two brand new babies less than twelve hours old and I am left speechless.  There is something about these babies that brings me back 8 1/2 years ago.. 10 years ago.  I wonder… I wonder what they are thinking, these sweet babies so fresh from heaven.  And I am always grateful to be blessed to see these babies so fresh and new.  And since these are good friends having babies I take my camera along.. because what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t at least take a picture.  And since my best friend had kid number FIVE last week.  Congrats Tiff!  I have to showcase just a quick little snippet of him.  First I am not a newborn or birth photographer.  I can recommend great photographers for that.  But I wanted to share this moment I caught that is what it is all about.  I love the gentleness that Tiffany is showing with her baby boy just hours old.  It’s the moments like these that bring me back to what is most important.
Isn’t he the sweetest thing?  I feel blessed I was able to see him so fresh and new.  It brings me back to what is really important.. my family.

I am striving to keep that balance of my family, and my business that I love.  My family will always come first.  In an effort to maintain, or find, I am not sure which one it is.. although I am thinking the latter, I will be taking only 4-6 shoots per month.  I would love to still capture you.  But my schedule will book up quickly.  FYI the Summer months are already booking up quickly.  I am so excited for 2012.  I am hoping that I can balance my life… attend all of the kiddos things, shoot the weddings and families that I love, and run a long, long, long, long way.

Oh wait!  I have one more thing.  I keep getting asked if I shoot destination weddings.  I do, and I LOVE THEM!  In fact if you have a destination wedding for 2012 email.  I have a fantastic wedding package for you!  You don’t want to miss out.  And I am excited because I already have a fabulous destination wedding booked for 2013!  It is going to be awesome!

Happy Tuesday!

I love the snow. And I love capturing people in the snow.  It is the best!

Meet Kelli+Sam.

They started dating many years ago, when they were just 16.  And after many years they are getting hitched!  I am so excited for them.  And I was so excited to shoot their engagements in the snowy mountains.  We lucked out with gorgeous weather, and lots and lots of gorgeous snow.  We had lots of fun.  The snow was so deep we would randomly sink into huge holes.  They had a great snowball fight, tried to build a snowman.  And had lots of love and laughter!

Thank you for letting me capture your love!  I cannot wait for your wedding in just over a month!

Review and Resolution: 2012

January 3, 2012

It’s that time to review my goals for 2011 and set some new ones.

Let’s review 2011, the goals and in bold how I did.

On the business end.  I want to shoot 12 weddings this year.  I love weddings.  After shooting back to back ones this weekend this feels like a great goal for me.  It allows me to maintain the balance of Mom and photographer.  I shot 10.

I also want to improve, I am constantly striving to be a better photographer and I am anxious for WPPI in Las Vegas next month to go and learn more!  I feel like I improved, but I still want to grow more!

On the personal side.  I want to workout regularly.  I haven’t in over eleven years.  It’s time to do that.  I started this in August, and I am still going strong!!  And I lost 20lbs last year!!

I want to take time to pray and have it be more meaningful, and also to read my scriptures and have it be more meaningful.  I feel I have slacked in these areas this past year.  I am still working on this.

 2012 goals:
Let’s start with the business side again.  I want to shoot 15 weddings this year.  If you know anyone engaged send them my way.  :)  And if they tell me they were referred by you, you will get a little something from me!  And I really want one to be a destination wedding!
I want to work on the business side and simplify where I can.
I want to balance my family life and business life better.  In fact I feel like this was my biggest failure in 2011.
I want to continue to workout.. I have a goal to run a half marathon.. as long as my knee will take it.  If it won’t I will find something else great to do that will challenge me.
I want to say yes more to my children.  I find myself saying no too often to things that don’t matter that much.  I want to say yes to things that would mean the world to them and help me to be the Mom I want to be.
And here is a fun shot from a recent engagement session to make this post a little more interesting!

I love weddings.  And you know I really love them if I shoot one on my very favorite shopping day of the year.. {Black Friday}.

I was super excited to shoot Allan and Molly’s wedding.  These two have been dating for quite a while, and they are completely and totally meant for one another.  You might remember them from here.  The stars aligned and these finally tied the knot.  They were married in the LDS Columbia River Temple in Richland.  It was a chilly and windy day but they were gorgeous nonetheless.

Capturing Allan and Molly was so fun!  They were up for anything and didn’t balk at the bitter cold.

We had sun.  I haven’t seen  a lot of sun lately so seeing sun in pictures makes me happy.

Molly and Allan.  You two are stunning.

Allan has the best smirks.

I LOVE Molly’s cowboy boots.

I love that a new family was formed.  Lucky Allan to get two beautiful ladies in his life.

I love these shots of Katie.  She was enjoying the big day also.

Congratulations on starting your forever together.  I know you two are going to do great things!  Thank you for letting me capture your day.

It’s always fun to shoot engagement sessions.  And this one was particularly fun.  I was super excited to shoot Ben+Andrea.  Ben is from Pomeroy.. (my hometown) and I was super excited to hang out with him and his super awesome fiancé Andrea.

Andrea had her hair and makeup done by Eden Salon and Day Spa, they did a great job, and Andrea looked stunning!  The weather ended up being questionable.  It was windy and cloudy but we made the best of it.  And Ben and Andrea were troopers through it all.

We started in the beautiful fall leaves. And then we found a beautiful meadow where we captured some great moments!

Ben and Andrea have such a great love.  I loved watching them giggle and have fun together.
Ben and Andrea you two are such a great match!

Thank you so much for spending an afternoon with me.  I am so excited to shoot your wedding in May!!

I posted a few sneak peeks of Matt+Laurel the day I shot their wedding a couple of weeks ago.  But tonight I am blogging their wedding.

They were married in the Richland Lutheran Church.  It was my first time shooting there, and I loved the architecture.
Laurel is simply stunning.  She had the most beautiful dress also.
I love watching a father walk his daughter down the aisle.  It is one of my most favorite parts of the day.

The reception hall was decorated beautifully.  And I loved the colors that they had.  Purple and orange are beautiful together.
We snuck away after the ceremony for a few shots of the two of them.

The details were beautiful.

I love first dances.  And watching these two you could feel the love.

Congratulations Matt+Laurel.  I am so excited for your life together.  Thank you for letting me capture your special day.

I love the opportunity to travel.  And for me traveling and shooting weddings, makes for a delightful time!

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to go to St. George, Utah for a wedding.  I had never been there and was super excited to see somewhere new and check out the beautiful St. George Temple, where Aaron and April were married.

April has two adorable girls, I started with pictures of them.
And then we took some of Aaron and April before the ceremony.
And we captured the new family together.

Everyone was so excited for them to come out of the Temple.
The next day we did more pictures and they had their reception in Bicknell, Utah.  Another new to me place.  I fell in love with it there.  In fact I was plotting how I could move there.  But I don’t think it will happen.  Aaron owns a ranch, and has cows, horses and grows his own hay.  It’s really awesome.  We took pictures at his ranch, with his hay, his horse, his land.

I love how blissfully happy they are together.
Aaron gave April cowboy boots.  She rocks them.
I love love love horses.  And I love this picture.
And these pictures.

Congratulations on your new life together.  Thank you for letting me capture your special moments!

Today I am excited to post a quick sneak peek from a wedding I shot today!!!  I am so proud of myself getting them up on the blog in the same day.  And I even went to the gym today.  That’s a productive day, but enough about me.

Matt and Laurel were married today in the Richland Lutheran Church.  They had a beautiful day, and I am excited to share a few sneak peeks to tide them over until they are all ready.

Laurel was a stunning bride.

And they are such a beautiful couple, they take amazing pictures.  And Matt looks so distinguished.
I love how much they radiate their love for one another.

Matt and Laurel, it was so fun to be able to witness such a beautiful day.  Thanks for putting up with me and letting me capture your day!  Congratulations!!

I am sitting here and just realized today is September 14.  Seriously the month is half over already?  Where did the first half go?

On September first I drove up to Yakima to meet up with Allan and Molly, and Molly’s sweet daughter.  Allan and Molly are engaged!  I love, love, love, love engagement pictures.  It’s such a fun way to get to know your couples, and it helps them to know what being in front of the camera is like with crazy me operating it.  I always like to have a chance for the to get used to my style before their wedding day.  And I love getting to know them and their love story even more.

Allan and Molly started dating after YEARS of their friend Rachel hounding them to meet.  Neither one was really ready for a while but finally they met, long distance.  Molly was in Boise, Allan was in Yakima, and lucky for them LaGrande, Oregon was a good half way point.  Rachel, you totally knew what you were doing setting these two up.  :)  I don’t think they could find a better match for each other.  And just hanging out with them you can feel their love for one another.  After some long distance dating Molly moved closer.. and then really close.  Finally these two are tying the knot in just over a month or so.  I can’t wait to capture their wedding!

Meet Allan and Molly, plus Molly’s adorable daughter.

I love the old trains in Yakima.  It was fun to shoot somewhere different!
They are such an adorable family.
I love this fun series.  Katie makes me giggle.
Allan and Molly, this set captures you.  So sweet and fun, and full of love!
Their eyes are gorgeous!

Congratulations on your engagement!  I am so honored to be able to capture your special day!

I have the best clients to work with.  Hands down.  Sometimes I get nervous before a shoot, especially when I haven’t had a chance to meet them.  This wedding in particular I hadn’t met them until their wedding day.  They don’t live locally and so their wedding day was the first chance we had to meet.  It left me a little nervous.  But then I met Sara and all my nerves went away.  She is my type of client.  The sweet fun bride who is ready to just enjoy her day. I was impressed by her concern for others to make sure that they enjoyed this special day also.  And Rob was just as great as Sara.  I see why they fell in love.

Meet Rob+Sara. They were married in the Catholic Church in Zillah, Washington.

They had a beautiful full Catholic Mass ceremony.  It was beautiful.

We did some pictures after the wedding.  They had their reception in Granger, Washington, and it was fun to shoot some where a little different.Sara and Rob you two are gorgeous!
The love between these two radiates.

Congratulations on your marriage!  What a beautiful day it was.  Thank you for allowing me to be there and capture your day.  And special thanks to Stefanie Hunsaker for second shooting for me!
