Archive for January, 2011

Meet my new nephew, Cyrus.  Lucky boy was born 1/1/11.  Rockin’ birthday right?  I don’t think it will be hard for anyone to remember.

He experienced the first of many photo shoots with his Auntie Lee when he was only five days old.  He has no clue what he is in for.  Poor kid.

I rarely do newborn pictures.  But I have to say I love baby hands and feet.  It is hard to believe we were all tiny at one point.
He has the sweetest little kissable lips.  And I love how sweetly he puts his hand up by his head.  Isn’t he a doll?Welcome to the world sweet babe.  You are in for quite the ride in our family.  Love you.  Auntie Lee.

Nick and Bernadette.  These two are meant for each other.  You can see it in the way they care for each other.  And are so aware of one another.  They think of each other.  Not of themselves, the way it is meant to be.  I have absolutely loved working with them.  Bernadette is a girl after my own heart, although she doesn’t love red.  What’s up with that?

On New Year’s Eve they were married at the Holy Spirit Parrish, in Kennewick, Washington.  Originally they hadn’t planned to do a first glance, but due to the time of the wedding they decided to.  I suggest all couples do this.  It gives them a quiet personal moment together and a chance to just be together.  They were both anxious to see one another.  Bernadette looked stunning.  And Nick was looking quiet handsome.

And then we shot some great shots of the two of them.  It was a bitter 21 degrees.  They handled the cold amazingly well.  And we were able to capture gorgeous images.  They look stunning in this.
I love their sweet interactions.  And I love that Bernadette completely trusts me and was willing to do whatever I asked her.   A close up of her beautiful Rosary.Bernadette is one of the most beautiful brides!  And Nick was looking rather dapper himself. They had a beautiful Catholic Mass. And their reception was full of love and laughter.  What a way to ring in the New Year! And lastly a picture of the new family.  Congratulations Nick and Bernadette.  Thank you for allowing me to capture such a special and sacred day for you.

And special thank to Billie Grimmett of Billie D. Photography for second shooting with me.  It is always great to work with her!

The Nugget Pox: Day 1

January 25, 2011

My Little Miss has the Nugget Pox.  AKA Chicken Pox.

Boo.  This morning she showed me spots on her arms and told me they itched.  I promptly checked the rest of her and found several more spots.  I knew what they were.  When my boy was 2 1/2 he had these same spots all over him.  We vaccinate.  In fact she was exposed to his spots a week before her first immunization.  She managed to escape it then.  However after being vaccinated and having the booster it decided it was time to come out and play.  I’ll be honest, I have been laughing about her having them all.day.long.  Our family hasn’t weather this winter cold season as well as I had hoped, and my son is being referred to MY asthma/allergy doctor.  Oh the irony of life sometimes.

They tell me, that because she was vaccinated it will be a mild case.  We’ll see.  I am not holding my breath for that.  You see last time the boy had them.. he was sick.  Incredibly sick, in fact we were in the ER for a fever that wouldn’t go away.  He had over 20 on his big toe.  They were in his mouth, down his throat.  It was horrible.  I like to think that the vaccine made them milder than they would have been.  And I am grateful for modern medicine to help.  I am praying hers are not as severe as his.

Today we went to the doctor to confirm what I already knew.

We snuggled.

She watched TV.

She snacked on chocolate chips and M&M’s.

She napped.

She itched.

And lastly a picture of my girl.  Eating her snack.  (chocolate chips) and wondering why I am taking a picture of her in such a state.

Today is a day where it is bitterly cold out.  At least for me.  Snow is in the forecast.  My left arm hurts from the stupid flu shot I received yesterday.  As long as I don’t get the flu I will be grateful.  It’s after 3:00 and I am still in my pj’s and I am snuggled up with my Snuggie, I am that big of a nerd!

I have several things on my to do list.  Although right now I don’t really feel like doing any of them.  I am missing the warmth of summer and wishing I was somewhere warm.  And since I was dreaming of warm times I decided to look at pictures from this past summer, and pretend I was warm.  It didn’t work.  I am still cold.  But I came across some images from the carnival and fair this year.  I love carnivals.  I know some people hate them, but I love them.  I love the food, the sounds, the lights, and the crazy little rides that were just set up that day.

Since it is January and I doubt I will be finding a carnival anytime soon I decided to share.  My sister, my niece and my daughter.  They had the time of their lives on all of the rides.  And the Scrambler might be my girl’s favorite.  She takes after her Mommy!  Love that ride.
Now back to day dreaming about warm, warm weather, while wrapped in my Snuggie.

YAY! So EXCITED!

January 10, 2011

I am so excited, and grateful at this very moment.  I have said before that I absolutely love weddings.  They are so fun and honestly I can’t get enough.  I love the raw emotion of the day and the intimate moments I get capture.  It all makes me giddy.  And I always leave feeling so blessed to have been able to capture such a private, and special day.

And now the reason I am so excited!  I had a wedding I shot this past summer of Jana and Steve featured on Apple Brides today.  You should go HERE to check it out.  And make sure you leave a comment.  This is a Spokane Wedding site, but if you are getting married in the Northwest, and even better Eastern Washington make sure you check it out.  There are so many great resources, and Rachel is doing an amazing job showcasing all of the great things Spokane and the outlying areas have to offer.

I am excited for many more weddings in the future, and 2011 is going to be a great year.

And lastly I can’t not post an image.  I love this from Jana and Steve’s wedding.

2011: Goals

January 2, 2011

In general, I hate New Year’s Resolutions.  But I have decided to set a few.

On the business end.  I want to shoot 12 weddings this year.  I love weddings.  After shooting back to back ones this weekend this feels like a great goal for me.  It allows me to maintain the balance of Mom and photographer.

I also want to improve, I am constantly striving to be a better photographer and I am anxious for WPPI in Las Vegas next month to go and learn more!

On the personal side.  I want to workout regularly.  I haven’t in over eleven years.  It’s time to do that.

I want to take time to pray and have it be more meaningful, and also to read my scriptures and have it be more meaningful.  I feel I have slacked in these areas this past year.

And because all posts are better with pictures.  Here is a recent shot from one of my December weddings.  Happy New Year!
