Archive for July, 2011

You might remember Collin and Kayla from their beautiful spring engagement session.  On a warm July day, in the quaint town of Pomeroy, Washington these two said I do.  And lucky me I was able to capture their day.  I was looking forward to this wedding, it was back in my hometown and I knew there would be tons of wonderful places for pictures.

We started with Kayla getting ready.  Her dress was beautiful it fit Kayla perfect!

We went out to the Pataha Flour Mills, in Pataha, Washington where they had their first glance.  I love it when couples take time to see each other before.  It gives them such a perfect quiet moment, and they have lots of time for pictures without being rushed.
Kayla and Collin are so sweet together!

We headed over to a beautiful wooded area and the light was gorgeous.Collin and Kayla planned plenty of time for several different locations for pictures.  I would suggest this to any couple.  We had time to go to several locations and maximize the locations we used.

And we went into the Flour Mill.  I love this shot.. a lot.

Collin wore a kilt.  And Kayla had some killer shoes!

I love color!!  And so Kayla’s bouquet was right up my alley.
Such a beautiful couple!

We went to the bar for some fun images.  I loved how willing and ready they were for everything and the ideas that they had.
This is Main Street in Pomeroy, Washington.  I love that we got everyone in the street.  This shot makes me happy.

All of the groomsmen played football for the mighty Pomeroy Pirates.
The ceremony site was beautiful.  It was so serene and the perfect place for an afternoon wedding.
I loved all of the details they had.  I really loved the bagpiper.

There is nothing sweeter than a father walking his daughter down the aisle.

Collin and Kayla had a beautiful ceremony.
Collin’s family brought this firetruck up from California, way back when.  It was their get away vehicle from the ceremony.

Kayla made these signs.  And even better she gave them to me!  I love them.  Thanks Kayla, and I love how creative you are!

Their reception was beautiful.

Kayla and Collin’s wedding day was also Kayla’s sister, Vicki’s birthday.  Vicki died in 2002, and this was a great way  for Kayla to remember her sister.  Her maid of honor gave a truly tear jerking toast.  I don’t typically showcase the toast, but this was perfect.  Watching Collin with Kayla made it even more clear these two are meant for one another.  It was a very special and emotional moment.Collin’s brothers gave wonderful toasts as well.  They were full of life and love and it was great to hear their sweet words.
And finally they had their first dance.

Collin and Kayla, your day was truly wonderful.  It was a day to be remembered with laughter, tears, and special moments.  I am grateful that I was there to capture your day.  And special thanks to Sonja Yearsley for spending the day with me second shooting!

I am a sucker for accents.  I don’t care where you are from, I love to listen to them.  And the Schmidt family, well they had great Canadian accents.  I loved listening to them talk.  I’m a geek like that.

Not only do they have awesome accents, they are some of the funniest people ever.  I laughed and had so much fun hanging out with them.  It’s people like them that make me LOVE my job!

First Mom and Dad.  How cute are they?

Then their daughter and her sweet family. The whole group.

The grand babies.  So sweet!

And the hot motorcycle…..   and two hot people!

Thank you Schmidt Family for allowing me to spend sometime with you and capture your life.

Can you believe it is the middle of July?  And it’s still not that warm.  What’s up with that?  I keep wondering when we are going to get the nice heat wave that we are known for.  Right now I am still waiting.  But I am not blogging to talk about the weather, although it is worth noting for this beautiful wedding.

Back in April I shot Harrison and Jennifer’s engagement pictures.  You can check them out again here!  I was so excited for their wedding.  You see these two are hilarious.  They keep me laughing and they totally laugh at my stupid jokes and listen to my stories about when I spent time in Walla Walla.  I love that cute town.  They would tell me stories and I loved getting to know them better.  And their wedding day didn’t disappoint, although it was a bit cold.  And it kept trying to rain off and on.  Hello, we don’t live in the west side!  But they didn’t care and they rocked it even if it was cold, rainy, and with the darkest skies ever.  They got married in Pioneer Park, in Walla Walla.  I love that park, and it has a special meaning for them.

Harrison and Jennifer opted to do a first glance.  I love it when couples do this, it gives them time to enjoy seeing each other for the first time and also to have some quiet moments together.  And it’s great because after the ceremony they are ready to mingle and party with the guests!

Jennifer was so excited to see Harrison.  And her emotions were right on the surface.

I love how thrilled they are just to be together on their wedding day.
We had to take a few pictures in the gazebo, they happened to have their first kiss in it.
I love this series.  Harrison and Jennifer have fabulous personalities and I think this totally captures it.
This image makes me happy.  They look so blissfully in love.

Harrison and Jennifer.  Dang, you two are hot!
It rained.  They were totally prepared.  Umbrellas that were adorable.  And Jennifer totally rocked the galoshes. There ceremony was beautiful and sweet.  It’s always a special moment when Dad gives his daughter away.

And a few details!

Harrison and Jennifer, congratulations on your new life together. And thank you for letting me capture your day. And thank you to Sonja Yearsley for second shooting with me!
